Artist's Comments

This is the final version of a previously posted deviation. The over all form probably hasn't changed much but the smaller work I did on these really added something to them I think. Also, I removed the masking tape that was bordering the paper and seperating the two halves to create the 'pair'

Charcoal, conte and oil pastels on supper shiney nice sexy wallpaper backing stuff from France. (it's almost gone! T_____T) This is probably about 24" wide.

So, what was the reason behind doing the scribbles? Like how in Design class we get a prompt to design something, what was the prompt for the scribbles? Does it have a meaning or symbol, is it supposed to represent something?

Basically, it's about mark making in its purest form. I started this whole thing in my Drawing VI class and I did a GREAT piece that was unfortunately "midplaced" (We are pretty sure that a mean bitch of a teacher that hated my teacher and thus hated all his students threw it out). Anyway, the idea that making a mark or marks on paper as a fundamental and direct mode of expression. Basically, making marks is the most essential and basic form of communication. We make marks before we can speak. So, I guess in some ways, it's childlike and direct. With most of these drawings I am working intuitively - making a mark at random and then reponding to them as the drawing develops.

^ Lots of artspeak for Sakky wants to scribble huh? :P

they kind of look like wings to me. It does look very nice and fun. You may have started a scribbling epidemic.

LOL Lots of artspeak, but very informative! XD I think that's a great concept, it's very thorough and deals with a lot of impressionism, emotion, etc. I really like the thought of 'making marks' as apposed to really trying ot 'draw.' Very inspirational, too. Now I can just sit in front of your art and wonder what you were going through to make those marks, etc.

Gives everything a whole new light and I like it! XD
