This is an assignment from my Drawing VI class. We were looking at some mixed media and collage artists and we were told to make an image that used any combination of drawing, magazine cutouts, photographs, transfers, xerox, etc. etc. It was also supposed to be auto-biographical or biographical. I had some old pictures of my mother so I went with her.
I had a good time making this and I like to look at it. This isn't really my favorite way to work, but it was a fun experiment. For the sake of context, all the stuff has to do with my mom in some way. We used to go to the library a lot and spent whole afternoons reading (since she worked at night). She loved wine. That thing in the middle there is a bracelet from her Senior Year Play. I wear it all the time. The picture in the middle is my mother walking up the isle escorted by my grandfather (who kind of looks like he should be in the mafia or something). Yep - I my mommy.
Oh yeah, the tanning lady. My mom passed away from skin cancer when I was 9. She was a sun goddess when she was younger. Undoubtably, this may have been a cataclyst for the cancer. That's why I never have a tan! ^___^;;
i like this one alot ..its very deep and emotional.. me likey
